35 Weeks--Christmas

We had a terrific Christmas weekend beginning on Saturday with a visit from Aunt Erin, followed by a Christmas get together with some friends and family. Christmas Eve we celebrated Christmas the Italian way with the 7-fish meal at the Carstead Sheehan house prepared by Mr. B. Christmas morning we made our rounds to the Barretts and Sheehans to see what Santa had brought and later went to Nanny and Pop's for the traditional family get-together. The belly is really really big and most people say it looks like this baby is going to come early. It is still kicking and rolling around---especially between 9-10am every morning.

33 Weeks

We had Travis's Christmas party last night. As you see the belly is just getting bigger and bigger. It didn't slow us down from having a great time though.

32 Weeks

Many thanks to our neighbor Steve Lobel who came over this evening to take some professional photos of us.

At 32 weeks the baby is about 16 inches in length and weighs about 3 1/2 pounds. We have our child birth class next Saturday and the doctor visits now are scheduled every 2 weeks.

29 weeks--Baby Shower

Many thanks to Mom, Genevieve, Maura, Tina, Becca and Erin for hosting the most fabulous Baby Shower! We really appreciate all of the little touches which made it such a wonderful day. We received so many great things including the crib (thanks Mom), changing table (thanks sistas), and tons of fantastic baby gear (thanks friends and family). The cake, which was designed and made by Sister Mary Ann Nelson, had a little basinett on it with a Golden Retriever next to it. It also had a tree hanging over it with smiling bees circulating over. Mom also did a great job at dressing up a big teddy bear in a bee costume, and even perfected the smile on the bear. Everything was just wonderful!!

28 Weeks--Happy Halloween!

Officially in the 3rd trimester, the belly is getting bigger and the baby is more active. Every night we watch the stomach change shape as the baby shifts position. We've read that by now the eylids are open and the lashes are fully grown.

"Practice" Baby

Ok, we'll admit it, this doll is a little bit on the creepy side with its ripped mouth and bugged out eyes. But it's helping us prepare the dogs for the new arrival that's due in just 12 weeks. Plus, isn't it cute all bundled up in the KU Jayhawks blanket and booties? Thanks to our dear friends Connie and Bill Hartley for sending us such a fantastic gift for the baby---a piece of Kansas!!

26 Weeks

At 26 weeks, the nursery is almost done. The bees are almost finished being painted and all that's left to do is hang the curtains, and await the baby's arrival!

40+ Year Old Bassinet

Thanks to Mike for boxing up and shipping the family bassinet all the way from California. This has been in the Sheehan family since Mike was a baby and we're happy to be able to use it for the 10th grandchild.

One Year Anniversary

The soon-to-be Mommy and Daddy went to Lake Placid for our one year anniversary. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful weekend!! The colors were absolutely beautiful. We began our trip at the Verizon Sports Park where Travis rode the Bob Sled in a record time of 43 seconds. We then went to the Olympic ski jump followed by the Olympic Museum and lunch in the village. The condo we rented was on the shore of beautiful Lake Placid and we celebrated our nuptials over dinner at the Mirror Lake Inn. On Sunday we took the Gondola up Whiteface Mt and then spent the afternoon sailing with the Sheehans on Lake George. We wrapped up our weekend Sunday evening sharing a piece of our defrosted wedding cake, having a sip of juice using our wedding toasting flutes, and watching the special moments part of our wedding video. What a wonderful weekend!!

23 Weeks

There's no hiding the belly now. We're feeling the baby kick and hicup a LOT ! We've even seen the belly move when the baby kicks. VERY cool! The nursery is now done. The bees along the white border have been hand painted to match the decor. Now we just need to get the furniture. We started a piggy bank for the baby's first shopping spree. So far, pregnancy has been awesome!!

Saying goodbye to the jeep

It was a bittersweet moment last evening as we sat in the Jeep dealership and traded in the Jeep Rubicon for a more "family" appropriate sized Jeep. We'll deeply miss the off-roading and 9 hour bumpy trips down the Garden State Parkway for Ocean City and Maryland trips. (Coincidentally, the former Rubicon owner also had traded this car in because she, too was having a baby. Huh, go figure!)

Something old

The rocking chair belonged to Travis's Mom when she first had Travis. The foot stool was an old one from our bathroom growing up. Amazing what a little paint can do!!

22 Weeks

Went to the doc today and the baby's heartrate is 148. The nursery is almost done being painted. We just need to paint the bumble bees along the white border in the middle. We found bumble bee dresser knobs to match too.

Tummy--21 Weeks

The belly is getting bigger and the baby is kicking a lot...especially at night when we're ready to go to sleep. It's a pretty neat feeling though, so who's complaining!!

Painting the Nursery

We spent Labor Day weekend painting the nursery to flow with the Wendy Bellissimo Busy Bee collection. The dogs are really interested in what all the change is about, and Peyton has become instinctively more protective of Siobhan. He follows her around the house and no longer will sleep in the kitchen.

Clearing out the nursery

Getting started---first clear out the old stuff. The bedding has been moved to the official guest room and the entertainment center and TV are now in the office.

Nursery Design 101

We started to work on the nursery this weekend by getting organized and clearing it out. We have a dresser, rocking chair, and changing table and all we need is a big rug and a crib.
